Why use a dog?

Highly trained and well maintained K9 teams can, and often do, outperform human inspections. K9 teams are deployed throughout the world in a variety of detection fields such as: explosives, firearms, human remains, narcotics, and entomology. Dogs play a vital role in conservation by locating endangered, elusive and/or invasive species on land and in water! Detection dogs are saving lives within the medical field by detecting cancer in its early stages, alerting individuals to a diabetic or epileptic episode before it happens! A dog’s highly developed olfactory system enables it to locate a target odor in an extremely efficient manner in a variety of environments.

At Four Paws, we deploy our K9 teams to find live bed bugs! We know bed bugs can and will hide anywhere! Bed bugs are excellent hitchhikers. Hitchhiking on people or their belongings is how they end up in so many places other than bedrooms! Additional places we find bed bug are restaurants, retail stores, grocery stores, theaters, gyms, buses, planes and automobiles to name a few. They can crawl inside boxes, cargo, light switches, under carpet tack strips, inside upholstery, behind baseboards, between cracks along bed frames and/or the screws that hold objects together, mattresses, box springs, inside electronics, phones, computers, inside offices, restrooms, cubicles and walls–areas that are virtually impossible for a human to inspect without dismantling the room’s contents. An immature bed bug can be smaller than a grain of salt and difficult to find. None of these factors are a deterrent to our K9s who can detect the odor of all stages of live bed bugs and viable eggs with virtually no disruption to your home or workplace.

Our K9 teams are valuable tools when we are utilized within your integrated pest management program (IPM). We can search large areas efficiently and accurately. Our attention to detail is among the best in the country! We are discreet professionals with over a decade of K9 detection service. Call Four Paws to get a quote today!
